The Sarwar Naseem Hall at the Department of Mass Communication, University of Karachi, was buzzing with energy today as students gathered for “THE RISE TALKS: From Dream to Success—Your Journey Starts Here. A transformative session jointly organized by Soorty Foundation, MediaVerse, and Orange Tree Foundation.

This exclusive event was crafted to inspire, educate, and empower students to take charge of their personal and professional growth. With a dynamic lineup of sessions and panel discussions, it served as a launchpad for Gen Z attendees. It is important to refine their goals and align them with real-world opportunities.


The highlight of the event was a powerful panel discussion on “Communication 2.0: Mastering Disruption & Consolidation,” featuring leading industry experts:

Haya Fatima Iqbal, Oscar and two-time Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker, brought her expertise in impactful storytelling to the conversation.

Sohaib Hassan, founder & CEO of Brand & Media Learning Hub (PVT) Ltd. He offered deep insights into navigating marketing disruption and building authentic brand narratives.

Faryal Najeeb, Public Engagement Manager at the U.S. Consulate General Karachi, provided a valuable perspective on media consolidation.

The discussion was skillfully moderated by Ghania Asad. She is a communications expert with over 10 years of experience. In creative video production, social media marketing, talent management, and PR—ensuring the dialogue remained engaging, actionable, and deeply relevant for aspiring professionals.

These thought leaders shared invaluable insights on navigating the evolving landscape of communication, leveraging disruption, and adapting to consolidated media spaces with creativity and strategy.

Adding a practical dimension to the session, a special talk on “Personal Financial Management.” It was delivered by Mohsen Siddiqui, Founder & CEO of GENMO. His session guided students on managing their budgets, emphasizing that success is all about making smart choices early on. His insights helped bridge the gap between ambition and actionable financial planning, empowering students to take charge of their futures with confidence.

Participants received exclusive tips on improving their scholarship applications and boosting their professional profiles. It gives essential tools for students preparing to step into the competitive world beyond university life.
